Ciara

Hi, I'm Ciara

I am a psychotherapist, Mental Health Social Worker, wife, friend, & dog lover

I have worked in the community for many years leading to my witnessing many children and adults in devastation due to addiction, family violence, intergenerational pain, illness and so on. This spurred me to become a psychotherapist. I believe that children and their families can live the lives they deserve - in a safe and compassionate community.

I work with all people to support them to move through their distress.

My journey has taken me on a deep exploration of trauma and its many impacts across the individual, family and community.  Informed by a mix of trauma responsive evidence-based approaches, I value trusting relationships with a view to generating safety & healing.  I am naturally curious, I value the person’s unique experience and I take lead when facilitating their desired goals.

Using a warm and playful approach, my practice is informed by social justice, neurobiology, knowledge of the impacts of trauma, and environmental considerations. This is underpinned by skills in the use of several therapy modalities including EMDR, psychotherapy, narrative practice and family therapy.  I am also interested in the somatic impacts of distress / mental health concerns and will incorporate body movement and relaxation techniques that are based in the science of our nervous systems into my practice.
